Travel eSIM: Terms & Conditions and Privacy Statement

Effective Date: May 11, 2026

These Terms and Conditions, which include our standalone Privacy Statement in Section 8 (collectively, the "Terms"), govern your purchase and use of the international data roaming Travel eSIM that you purchase from us.

The travel eSIM and/or any associated plan is distributed and resold by True Software Scandinavia AB ("Truecaller", "we", "us"). By purchasing, downloading, or activating a travel eSIM and/or any associated plan from Truecaller, you agree to these Terms.

1. Service, eligibility & our role

  • Service: Truecaller is reselling you the travel eSIM pursuant to these Terms as an Over-The-Top (OTT) distributor of travel eSIM service which enables international data-only roaming service of third-party data connectivity providers. It does not include a local phone number, voice calling, or SMS/MMS. All underlying network access and mandatory telecommunications compliance (including lawful interception) are managed exclusively by the licensed network operators in the countries you visit. You are expected to utilise the services for your personal non-commercial usage. Because the data connectivity is entirely provided by third-party data connectivity providers, coverage maps are estimates. We cannot guarantee specific speeds, latency, or uninterrupted uptime. Service may be unavailable because of reasons including maintenance, technical issues, when in remote areas or other reasons beyond our control. Truecaller will not be liable for your inability to use the services during such periods.
  • Eligibility & account security: You must be of legal age in your jurisdiction to form a binding contract. If you purchase the service via the Truecaller mobile application, you will use your existing Truecaller account, and your jurisdiction for tax and compliance purposes will be determined by the country code of your registered phone number. If you purchase via our website without a Truecaller account, you will log in using an email address, and your jurisdiction will be determined by the billing details you provide. You are solely responsible for providing true and accurate information, maintaining the security of your account credentials and for all activity occurring under them.
  • Speeds and performance: The Service relies on the local visited network's infrastructure. While the service aims to provide 4G or 5G connectivity where available, they do not guarantee specific minimum, normally available, or maximum download and upload speeds, or specific latency/jitter parameters, as these depend heavily on the local operator, geography, and network congestion.
  • Switching and hardware: You are free to stop using the service at any time. Because this is a prepaid, data-only service without an assigned telephone number, right to number portability and switching protocols do not apply. There are no early termination fees. The service requires an eSIM-unlocked device; we do not impose restrictions on your use of compliant terminal equipment (e.g., using your phone as a hotspot), subject to our Fair Usage Policy.
  • Our role: Truecaller is a software technology company acting solely as an independent distributor reselling travel eSIM that enables international data-only roaming of third-party data connectivity providers. Truecaller is not a licensed telecommunications provider, Mobile Network Operator (MNO), or Mobile Virtual Network Operator (MVNO) in your jurisdiction. We do not own, operate, or control any telecommunications infrastructure, cell towers, spectrum, radio equipment or numbering resource. All underlying network routing, physical access, and network-level compliance (including lawful interception capabilities) are managed entirely by our third-party data connectivity partners and the local licensed mobile network operators in your destination country.

2. Device & installation

  • Device requirements: Your phone must be eSIM-compatible, carrier-unlocked, and running an official, unmodified operating system (no jailbroken/rooted devices).
  • Install before you travel: You need a stable Wi-Fi or cellular connection to install the travel eSIM. We strongly recommend installing it before you depart to avoid setup failures upon arrival in the destination country. Note that installation of travel eSIM does not result in activation of your plan, and your plan gets activated only when your travel eSIM connects to an operator in the destination country or region depending on your plan.
  • Do not delete eSIM profile: An eSIM profile is permanently tied to the device on which it is first installed; it cannot be transferred. Never delete the eSIM profile to troubleshoot a connection issue - this may make eSIM irretrievable. Hence, we urge you to refer to our FAQs or contact customer support to resolve any issue.

3. Plan validity & expiry

  • Plan Validity: Your plan’s duration (e.g., 7 or 30 days) begins the moment your travel eSIM registers on a supported network in your destination country. Installing it before your trip does not start the timer.
  • Expiry: You must install and connect your travel eSIM within 365 days of purchase. Unused plans expire after 365 days from purchase and are non-refundable.
  • Dormant Profiles: To maintain network efficiency, we reserve the right to permanently deactivate any eSIM profile that has not connected to a network or consumed data for 365 days.

4. Data caps, end-user controls, traffic management & Fair Usage Policy

  • Data caps and end-user controls: Plans have fixed data limits. There is no automatic top-up. You can monitor your active data consumption and plan validity via your Truecaller application or from the website where you purchased the travel eSIM.
  • How is data metered: Data is metered by our network partners. Our network logs are the final, binding record of your usage.
  • Traffic management and Fair Usage Policy: All plans are intended for standard personal travel. To prevent network abuse and ensure fair access for all users, our local telecom partners enforce traffic management policies. If your plan has daily data consumption limits and your usage exceeds your plan thresholds (depending on your plan), your speeds will be throttled (e.g., reduced to 2G/3G speeds such as 512 kbps) until the next usage cycle gets reset as per your plan. Please note: Throttling will severely impact high-bandwidth applications such as HD video streaming or large file downloads, but basic browsing and messaging will remain functional.

5. Prices, billing and changes

  • Price and billing:  Prices shown before checkout include all mandatory local taxes applicable to your billing address. Please make sure to verify your plan details in the cart prior to completing your purchase. You proceeding to purchase travel eSIM denotes your acceptance of these Terms.
  • Contract duration & unilateral changes: Your contract duration matches the validity period of your purchased plan (e.g., 7 or 30 days). If we make unilateral changes to these Terms that negatively affect you, we will provide you with at least one (1) month’s prior notice. You have the right to terminate the contract without penalty if you do not accept the new terms.

6. Refunds & right of withdrawal

  • Cooling-off waiver: Because the travel eSIM is a digital service delivered immediately, you expressly consent to the immediate execution of the service and waive any statutory right of withdrawal (or local cooling-off equivalent) that may be available to you under law, once the eSIM profile has been installed.
  • Service quality, defects and compensation: If your eSIM fails due to a platform error, or if you experience persistent service interruptions or speeds significantly below the advertised capabilities due to an issue on our end, you are entitled to a remedy, which may include a proportionate refund or compensation. You must report defects within thirty (30) days of purchase. We reserve a reasonable window (up to 7 business days) to troubleshoot the issue before issuing a refund.
  • No refunds: There won’t be any refunds for: (i) accidental purchases once installed; (ii) carrier-locked or incompatible phones; (iii) lack of signal in remote areas; or (iv) accidentally deleted profiles.
  • Chargeback: Initiating a bank chargeback for a successfully delivered travel eSIM, or buying plans speculatively to refund unused profiles, is a material breach of these Terms and may result in a permanent ban from Truecaller.

7. Acceptable use

  • Compliance with applicable laws:  You must comply with applicable laws associated with your purchase and use of travel eSIM. We will immediately suspend your service without refund for unlawful activities, commercial resale, automated scraping, or violating the following:
  • Spam, malware & network abuse: You agree not to use the Service to transmit malicious code, malware, or spam. You may not engage in fraudulent activities (such as phishing or spoofing), attempt to bypass network security controls, or intentionally interfere with the infrastructure of Truecaller or our network partners.
  • Local laws: You agree not to use the service to bypass national internet firewalls or local government bans on Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) applications.
  • Device registration rules: Some countries block devices utilizing foreign IMEIs on local networks for extended periods without local registration. We are not liable for device blocking enforced by local regulators.
  • Sanctions: You represent that you are not located in an embargoed territory or listed on any applicable EU, US, or UN sanctions lists.
