How could you download the application and install it? Never, Never install anything or click on anything from somebody promising anything or offering to give you something, pretty much anything that has any air of suspicion. I get pop up messages sometimes and emails but I never download anything from any of these and do not respond to any of them. I'm fortunate enough to not having been hacked or taken for anything, because I do not answer any unknown numbers, or click on anything that pops up and don't respond to anything that looks really inviting. Unless I know it is a major company I don't respond to it. I've received emails that look very authentic but I'm also available a mouse over will show a fake email address. The bottom line for being on the internet, is never click on anything or download anything like that. You can refresh the page and maybe it will disappear but you need to be very, very suspicious when you're on the internet.
