I was speaking to some lady on Facebook regarding an apartment I said when can I come see it she said when you pay the $80 application fee I said why should hey an application fee on something I have not seen and she didn't want to work with us he said just pay it now and I told her I didn't feel comfortable I've been scammed before and she said she's a good Christian woman just pay it now and then she told me thank you for wasting her time but I'm sorry I'm not going to pay for a application fee when I didn't see the apartment you want to take me to see the apartment I will pay the application fee when I see the apartment I don't think it works that way honey

there are many apartments charging application fee more than a hundred. if you go for seeing townhouses you are charged upfront as a holding fee. the homeowners pretend to be agents for their own houses charge you over 300$saying all kind of fees. they are very malicious they change your lease document after you sign it. so please strike of any empty places in your lease document. it happened in Katy. if you go to court only the rich are served especially in Katy tx.. since you are a tenant they look down upon you. so watch out for these scammers

I had a very similar experience, also for awhile every post from FB for an apartment or house wanted me to pay for a background check through a specific (scam) company without ever seeing the property. There were even some where the person was actually willing to meet me at the property. I set it up so the real owner was meeting us there at the same time but of course the fraud one didn't show.

Wow, that’s just insane! I mean, seriously, how could a woman who supposedly stands by her Christian values – you know, the whole honesty and integrity thing – think it's okay to pull something like this? It’s almost laughable if it weren't so ridiculous. Here’s a person who claims she's all about doing the right thing, yet she goes ahead and tries to scam you right off the bat. I can’t even wrap my head around why she thought it was smart to ask you to pay an application fee for an apartment that you hadn't even seen in real life! Like, who in their right mind would fork over money for a place sight unseen? That’s just asking for trouble! It’s one thing to trust someone, but when it comes to big decisions like renting a home, you definitely need to be cautious. I mean, it’s just common sense! Honestly, it seems like she was counting on you being naive and not checking out the place for yourself. Who knows what kind of mess you could have ended up in? It’s just so baffling!

A couple months ago I was looking for a house for rent and was mostly looking on Facebook marketplace and seemed like 4 out of 5 ads were scams, basically wanting a fee or deposit upfront over the phone before I even met the person or seen the place. no way!!
