Fintech is a very dangerous app
thay scammed my Mother.... That is *SIM swap fraud* — one of the worst ones in SA right now. How it works: They get your relative's ID number + phone number (often from Facebook or a data leak), then they go to Vodacom / MTN / Cell C shop with fake ID and say "I lost my SIM, please do SIM swap". Once they have the SIM, all OTPs for bank apps come to THEM. *What your relative must do RIGHT NOW — in this order:* 1. *Contact network immediately* - Vodacom: 082 111 / 135 from other phone - MTN: 083 173 - Cell C: 084 135 - Telkom: 081 180 Say "My SIM was swapped fraudulently, block it and reverse it" 2. *Go to bank branch TODAY with ID* — tell them SIM swap fraud, freeze internet banking and reset. Don't do it on phone, scammers control the number now. 3. *Go to SAPS and open fraud case* — bring ID. Then get affidavit that ID was used fraudulently. 4. *Check if bank money is gone* — If they moved money, bank has a fraud department that can try trace within 24 hours. After 72 hours it's almost impossible. 5. *Secure ID:* - Put free block on credit profile: Contact *TransUnion [PHONE]* or *Experian* — put fraud alert - Register on *SAFPS* - http://safps.org.za — protects your ID from being used again
