He insisted for my address but I refused and he started swearing my mother

I would like to share an experience I had this morning to warn and protect others from falling victim to scammers.0813499148 I received a phone call from someone who identified himself as Constable Shikongo from Otjiwarongo Police Station, claiming to be a sergeant in the Namibian Police Force (NamPol). He alleged that there was a fraud case against my phone number and tried to convince me that the case was serious enough for me to be arrested. He then demanded my physical address. I remained calm and told him that before providing any personal information, I needed his full details so that I could contact the relevant police head office and verify his identity. Fortunately, I have Truecaller installed on my phone, which helped raise my suspicions about the call. I decided to play along and see where the conversation would lead. He then told me to check my WhatsApp because I would see him wearing a police uniform. I reminded him that wearing a police uniform or displaying a photograph in uniform does not automatically prove that someone is a genuine police officer. He went on to threaten that he would send his colleague, whom he identified as Sergeant Kammati, to collect me and take me to the police station. I refused to give him my physical address and confronted him about the suspicious nature of his call. That was when he resorted to insulting and swearing at my mother. That reaction only made me more suspicious of his intentions. I am sharing this experience because not everyone will recognise these warning signs, and some innocent people may end up losing their hard-earned money or exposing their personal information to criminals. PLEASE TAKE NOTE: °Never disclose your physical address, banking details, PINs, passwords, or OTPs to an unverified caller. °Do not allow anyone to intimidate you with threats of arrest. Verify their identity independently through official police channels. °Consider installing Truecaller to help identify suspicious calls, but remember that caller identification is not always accurate and should not be your only method of verification. °If you receive a suspicious call, remain calm, end the call if necessary, and report it to the relevant authorities. Please, let us protect one another by sharing information that could save someone from becoming the next victim. I was fortunate to recognise the warning signs, but someone else might not be as lucky. SCAMMERS ARE BECOMING MORE CREATIVE, SO LET US BE MORE VIGILANT!
