  The same thing happened to me. It was horrible; they insisted for about 2 months until they managed to hack me. I was saved because I had chat backups and two-factor authentication to access it. I had to go to the CICPC to recover it and file a report. It is very important to activate two-factor authentication on WhatsApp. Also, currently, it allows you to create an access password for WhatsApp as well.
