MGL Telephone number scam
``You continuously keep getting sms saying your MGL gas bill is pending since couple of months. I was using MGL gas services 3 years back shifted from that city and changed my contact number in MGL website. Still these messages were coming to ne. I informed my previous apartment owner to take care of this and he confirmed it is done. Recently I got a sms message from an unknown number saying my gas meter will be disconnected and I need to contact someone called Devraj Sharma with the phone number.[PHONE]. I ignored msgd and again forwarded it to my previous owner to take care. This guy from this number called me today and asked about the status of payment. I said clearly I have moved out from that location and not responsible for any payment. He said you are still getting the messages and your number is still registered at MGL and hence if you want the number to he deleted I need to update some details in an apk file shared by him. He sent me an apk file and asked me to install the MGL app and update phone number in reverse [PHONE] and save. I opened the file and it went into MGL app but a fake one. He asked me to update details and including make a payment of Rs.5 through Netbaning/CC/DB but I refused to make payment and came out. By this time I realized my phone was hacked and only solution was to report the incident to the cyber crime police and they noted the number and resolved my issue. Also I have reported it as complaint with complete details of msgs and voice recording. These guys operate under different names (in my case Ms.Rina Laskar) Request everyone not fall prey to such scammers and lose money instead be aware of such guys sharing you apk files and ask you to open it and provide data. I request MGL to take note of this and catch these culprits who operate in their name. I have registered a complaint with MGL directly about my case Hope they take corect action.
