There was a loophole scammers used to obtaining a NIN just from a stolen SIM card in case it was a removable SIM from a stolen phone. They use that NIN and other information to cash out any amount from your mobile wallet (like M-Pesa, Mixx by Yas & Airtel Money). Not sure if they've fixed that yet.
