spotting scam email's

I recently received an email from Microsoft saying someone in Germany was trying to access my account. I checked the sender details to be sure it came from Microsoft. The email came from Microsoft.net I always check sender addresses on emails before I send it to spam. It pays to check email addresses to know it came from a legit sender
