Think Before You Click: The Rising Online Job Scam

Warning to fellow internet users: Be cautious of online job scammers. I recently received a text message claiming that my “application had been approved” with a payment of UGX 120,000, yet I had never applied for any job. The message contained a link directing me to a Telegram account where I was taken through so-called “digital marketing training.” After the training, I was asked to pay a fee in order to access jobs and gigs. Please be alert. Genuine employers or online work platforms do not ask applicants to pay money before offering work opportunities. Always verify job offers, avoid clicking suspicious links, and never send money to unknown individuals online.
