Vehicle E-Challan Phishing Scam — Fake Traffic Fine Messages

I received a loads of fraudulent SMSes claiming that a ₹1,000 e-challan had been generated for a vehicle in last two weeks. The message included a challan reference number and a payment link hosted on a suspicious "vercel.app" domain rather than an official government website. The message impersonates an official traffic/RTO notification and urges recipients to make a payment. Google Messages flagged the sender as spam, and I have also received similar suspicious messages from multiple phone numbers. This appears to be a phishing scam designed to trick vehicle owners into clicking fraudulent links and potentially disclosing personal information, banking credentials, or making unauthorised payments. I am reporting this scam to raise awareness and help prevent others from becoming victims. Public advisory: Do not click links in unsolicited e-challan messages or share personal or banking details on suspicious websites. Always verify challans independently through the official government portal: https://echallan.parivahan.gov.in.
