Verizon scam

Got an unsolicited call claiming to be from Verizon. They said I had a past due charge of $900 and did I want to pay or dispute? I don't even do business with Verizon so I hung up.

So, here’s the deal: if you’re not a customer of Verizon Wireless, you really shouldn’t be getting calls from anyone claiming to be from the company. Seriously, it’s a total red flag! This kind of thing is often a scam, and it’s becoming more and more common these days. Imagine this: you get a random call from someone saying they’re from Verizon and that you owe them a hefty bill of, let’s say, $900. It’s wild, right? First off, if you’re not even with Verizon, how could you possibly owe them any money? It makes no sense at all! These scammers are skilled at trying to trick you into believing their story, creating a sense of urgency and making you feel like you need to take quick action. They might even threaten to cut off your service or report you to collections if you don’t pay up immediately. But don’t worry! Here’s the thing: if you get one of these calls, just hang up. No need to engage with them or provide any personal information. It’s always better to be safe than sorry. If you ever do have concerns about your account or charges, just reach out directly to Verizon through their official customer service channels. Better to be cautious than to fall for some elaborate scam, right? So keep your wits about you and watch out for those suspicious calls!
