I keep getting these strange phone calls. This one is from West Africa. I call back, and the call goes through, but I don't hear anything. It feels like the person is right next to me. At the same time, my WhatsApp keeps automatically adding me as a friend. West Africa is supposedly rife with fraud, and there have even been horrifying news reports from Nigeria, all related to telecom fraud and large-scale organized transnational crime syndicates.

So yes, that is indeed a West African phone number, not a virtual number. I often receive virtual numbers and similar add requests. It's like having scammers from a fraud ring all around you.
