Advice to avoid falling into fraud and scams

I received a call from a Nigerian number, it was a scam and fraud. They told me there was a gift for me from New York to Sudan 🇸🇩. The Nigerian person asked me to transfer money for the shipping from Nigeria to Sudan. The gift was supposed to be an iPhone, a computer, and British pounds. I told him to keep the British pounds and just send me the other items, but it turned out to be a new scam and fraud.
