"Digital Arrest" (Digital Arrest) Beware of Cyber Fraud Fraudsters call you claiming that a SIM card or bank account issued in your ID is involved in criminal activity. When you hang up, they call from another number, where the Caller ID shows names like "Cyber Crime Department," and they threaten to arrest you immediately. Please note that Indian police or any government agency does not make "digital arrests" over phone or video calls, nor do they ask for money to close cases. If you receive such a call, do not panic, hang up immediately, block the number, and report it to the National Cyber Crime Helpline at 1930 or at cybercrime.gov.in.
