Fraud demanding money by spreading fake accident news
Today, an incident happened with our family that still makes my heart tremble whenever I remember it. An unknown person called my father and informed him that my brother had a terrible accident and had died. Then he said the body was taken for autopsy. After a while, he called again saying the situation was very bad, urgent blood was needed, and money had to be paid. First, they demanded 4,000 taka, then later 10,000 taka. We said, "Please provide the treatment; we will come ourselves and pay directly." Then the person said, "If he is dead, let him be dead; come and take the body." Today, I saw with my own eyes how a person can exploit the most sensitive part of a family—the fear of a child's life and death—to try to extort money. We immediately went to the police station and reported the matter. Later, my younger paternal cousin went to the cricket club where my brother played and inquired. Alhamdulillah, my brother was there in good health. No accident had occurred. ❤️ Even more surprising, the fraudster once said the accident happened in Joydebpur, and to someone else, he said it was in Tongi. So the whole story was a fabricated lie. Alhamdulillah, Allah saved us from a great danger. 🤲 A request to everyone—if someone calls and says a family member has had an accident, died, or needs urgent medical treatment and asks for money, do not send money in fear immediately. First, confirm yourself, contact other family members, and if necessary, seek help from law enforcement. Today we survived. May no other family fall victim to such fraud tomorrow.
