Got scammed of 2000 rupees, BEWARE!

I kind of hate myself so much right now because I fell for the most illogical scam ever. I am a final year MBBS student and I had went to the hospital in the morning, like usual, as part of my daily schedule. I have to go there daily, take cases, report to my seniors, etc. While I was taking a break and going out for a tea thinking about my next round, this stranger comes to me, claiming to be a peon in my college, and says "My elder sister was involved in a serious accident" and points toward a ventilator. He says "I immediately need 2000 rupees". Now mind you I was wearing my Apron so he obviously figured I was a medical student. I was thinking about how bad the accident was and thus without asking a single question, I UPId him the amount he asked for. He gave me his number and said "I will return your money after 10-15 minutes". As he was walking away, my mind started to click. I didn't know his identity, I didn't know whether that ventilator patient was really related to him or not, I didn't know whether he really was a peon in my college, I KNEW NOTHING! And so I immediately called him and asked him to confirm his identity. He said "ok, I will msg you my identity card", but I didn't get any msg I raised the issue with my bank immediately and they raised a complaint. I also reported cyber crime portal, but I am sure I will not get my money back. It was totally my fault and I can only curse myself at being this dumb
