Truecaller is partnering with local government services to provide a number directory within the Truecaller app. This is the first of its kind, and we hope it signals a new future for governance (as well as making it easier for people to find what they need in a pinch).

Truecaller has evolved to become more than just a caller ID and spam blocking app. Today, most Truecaller users are from India. We know that an Indian with a smartphone is probably using Truecaller on a daily basis. We also know that in 2021, phonebooks have no chance to keep up with new numbers. Truecaller has replaced the phone book for many people.

As of now, this feature will only be shown to those in Karnataka, based on the telecom circle location.

Now that we have kick started this initiative, we have immediate plans to brng it to all of India, for the benefit of all of Truecaller’s 200mn + active users in the country.

A statement from Truecaller’s CEO and Co-Founder

“caller ID, messaging and other features that Truecaller offers. Over the years, we have built a large user base in India and I am pleased to announce that we now have over 200 Million active users in India alone. We are excited and pleased that we were given the opportunity to make communication more efficient for citizens. We would like to expand this to many more states and eventually the entire country. “
