Family Protection by Truecaller is built around a simple idea: protection works better when it’s shared. It’s about reducing risk and making sure stronger spam controls are actively in place for everyone.
How does Family Protection work?
In short, instead of everyone handling spam alone, a trusted person becomes the Family Admin — creating a family group and supporting connected members with their spam protection settings.
A group can have more than one Admin, so the responsibility can be shared. And while Admins help manage protection for others, they can still keep their own block settings separate from the rest of the family.
Depending on device, Family Admin can:
✔️ Remotely end the fraud calls
✔️ Manage the block list
✔️ Enable Auto-Block Spam (with Premium)
✔️ Receive live fraud alerts
✔️ Block verified businesses, foreign numbers and hidden numbers
✔️ Update spam list
✔️ Block caller names (with Premium)
✔️ View battery level, activity status and ringer status
✔️ Receive low battery alert
✔️ View weekly report
Android vs iPhone
The level of functionality depends primarily on the family member’s device, not the Admin’s.
If the family member uses Android = full experience
- Whether the Admin is on Android or iPhone, an Android member gets full Family Protection functionality
If the family member uses iPhone = limited experience
- If the member is using an iPhone, functionality is more limited due to iOS system restrictions. In this case, Family Protection focuses on managing the shared block list and enabling Auto-Block Spam (for Premium users)
